Monster at the Door
He seems perfectly at home to me but I do have a few questions. One is how in the world did he get his tee shirt over that fat head? Is that a look of contemplation? And those boots probably weigh as much as he does. Those pudgy little arms look like those of a human four year-old at most. Yep, I’m not buying it; I’ve talked myself out of it: this is not a real monster. Rather, it looks like to me an older brother was at work here; for one thing, a mom wouldn’t have used those boots. And I think said Mom just might be that faint set of legs you can see on the other side of the screen door, probably making sure that things don’t get out of hand.
Back in the day this photo was made, one had to wait at least a day to see the results, usually more. And since this one is the one that history has preserved for us we’ll never know if there were more, even better ones, taken “just to be sure”. Somewhere out there are some grandchildren looking at this photo of their grandpa, maybe not even knowing it is him.
What a shame that would be! Or, just in case, you could pretend he’s yours and send this to grandma on her birthday, just be clicking HERE
In this Issue:
1) This week’s featured image: “Monster at the Door”
2) My latest photographic NFT: Grove of Aspen at Tamarack, Idaho (winter)
3) Next chapter of “The Two Sentence Novel”
4) The continuing saga of a contemporary spaceman
The Eklectika NFT collection is now launched. This is going to be (as the name suggests) a survey of my photography for the past 50 years, with some oddities thrown in and I promise it will be genuinely eclectic. If you’ve thought about collecting NFTs now is the time - it’s a buyers market!
