Why subscribe?

I want too much.

I want to spend my time taking photos. I want to spend my time writing. Those two things in themselves add up to I want too much. In pursuit of these two obsessing desires I end up with a way too cluttered desk in a way too cluttered office. But wait, there’s more - I’m also rather devoured by the love for historic imagery. There is just so much entertaining and amazing art to be seen and discovered that I’ve even tried to work that passion into another outlet: a note card business featuring the photographic and artistic nuggets I uncover. That’s another obsessing activity.

I mean to bring them all together here at Substack. As of now, my photos are in two places: davidryanphotography.com and davidryanphotography.net, the first a portfolio and the second a gallery. My writing about photography is on a Word Press blog and my sole attempt at self-publishing is on Amazon. And, finally, my cards are on Etsy.

And, now with this Substack venue, the best of all of it will find its way here. Take it in pieces or take it all in one gulp; I’m hoping you just take it in and come back for more because I really like to share things that make me smile. And I’m betting they’ll make you smile too.
